Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 16, 2026
This policy is written to be clear and practical, but it is not legal advice. Scnrly should have counsel review final launch policies before App Store release.
1. Overview
Scnrly is built as a local-first document scanning product. You can scan and store documents locally on your iPhone without creating an account. If you choose to create an account and enable cloud backup, Scnrly stores cloud-backed documents so you can access them from the web app.
2. Information we collect
We may collect account information such as your email address, authentication identifiers, and basic account metadata. If you enable cloud backup, we store document metadata such as file name, file type, page count, file size, sync status, creation date, and storage path. We also store the document files you upload to cloud backup.
3. Local-only use
If you choose local-only mode, your scanned documents are intended to remain on your device unless you export, share, upload, or otherwise choose to move them. Local-only scans do not require a Scnrly account.
4. Cloud backup and web access
Cloud backup is optional. When enabled, your scans are uploaded to private cloud storage associated with your account. The web app uses your authenticated session to show only documents that belong to your account.
5. How we use information
We use your information to provide scanning, cloud backup, web access, document preview, download, rename, delete, account, support, security, abuse prevention, and subscription-related functionality.
6. What we do not do
We do not sell your documents. We do not use your document contents for advertising. We do not intentionally make your private documents public. We do not put service-role or administrative keys in the iOS app or web client.
7. Subscriptions and payments
Premium subscriptions are managed through Apple in the iOS app. Apple may process payment information under Apple’s own terms and privacy policies. Scnrly may store subscription entitlement information such as product ID, transaction identifiers, status, and expiration dates so Premium access can be recognized.
8. Security
We use access controls, account-based authorization, private storage buckets, row-level security policies, and signed URLs for private file access. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we design Scnrly to reduce unnecessary exposure of document data.
9. Deleting documents and account data
You can delete cloud-backed documents from Scnrly. Deleted cloud files and metadata may be removed from active systems, though backups, logs, or provider retention systems may persist for a limited period where required for security, recovery, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
10. Service providers
Scnrly may use infrastructure and platform providers such as hosting, database, storage, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, payment processing, and email providers. These providers process data as needed to operate the service.
11. Legal and safety disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, security investigation, enforcement of our terms, protection of rights, prevention of harm, or operation of the service.
12. Children
Scnrly is not intended for children under 13 or for users below the age required to consent to digital services in their jurisdiction.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Scnrly evolves. Material updates will be reflected by changing the effective date or providing notice where appropriate.
14. Contact
For privacy requests or support, contact Scnrly through the support page.
